The lake level is at 599.33 or roughly a half foot under normal summer pool. Water temps are running 62-64. The north end has some stain as it looks like up in the Wilborn area it has turned over and the color is back to normal. The south end remains very clear.

Lots of changes coming on November 1st. The Commercial fishermen will be putting out both Trammel and Gill nets from the 32 bridge over to the Coalshaft Bridge and from the Findlay bridge all the way down to the dam. These nets are to harvest the over populated Buffalo and common carp. Millions of them live in the lake. Watch out for the nets they are very long.

“CRAPPIE”
I am only fishing for crappie at this time. November is my favorite month to catch them. They come to cover like Shelbyville Cubes and anything wood like stumps or brush. We routinely catch a hundred a day, catching is unbelievable. No need for minnows that just get your hands cold.

I am using a Deep Ledge Jig and a Brushpile plastic in either a Hammer or Dart style. Colors vary with light penetration. I start my morning with a Wyatt’s Blue Magic then once the sun gets going switch to a Peppercorn Pearl. Color isn’t as important as weight of the jig and jig placement. Not uncommon for me to fish a big quarter ounce Deep Ledge simply because I can push it back and forth rather than pop it up and down. Holding it very still in November works far better. Plus they can see the bigger jig.

I am only fishing the north end from Bo-Woods over to Wilborn. No need to go far as they are biting everywhere. Plus short boat rides in colder weather better on me and my clients. The cleaning stations will be closed soon so we will clean them at my boat shed. You will have to wash them once you get home.
