The lake level is 602.01 and falling. Normal summer pool is 599.7 feet above sea level.
Water temps have risen into the 70’s. This will trigger a shad spawn and the walleye/sauger bite will get better.
The lake is stained to clear throughout.
“Crappie”
The post spawn crappie are all over the place. Anglers are starting to pull crankbaits a solid pattern this time of the year. River channel banks and points. Cubes have fish on them as well. You must move often to locate which ones are working. This pattern will get better in the next few weeks. We drift minnows across them on slip bobbers.
“Walleye”
I have been pulling bottom bouncers and single hook spinner rigs now for just over three weeks and still haven’t caught a walleye only sauger and lot’s of them. One out of ten big enough to keep. Next year this lake will be full of 16in. sauger some days we are catching 30 or more. Once the lake falls back to summer pool maybe the walleye will show up. They suspend in schools of bait this time of year.
I pull these spinner trigs on edges of flats and along and across points. All over the lake. We catch a ton of fish doing this on line counter reels. My clients love the action.
“White Bass”
For now I am pulling bottom bouncers and single hook spinner rigs until June 13th. Been averaging about 40-60 a day but we are trying to catch walleye. They live near each other. Wind dictates what you do. One day they are on the edge of a flat with wind blowing into it then next totally gone. Each day doing this gives me a piece to the puzzle I will use all summer once we switch up to my spoon hair jig combo. I love fishing for them this way. Once the water temps warm even more they will school up on sides of points and edges of flats. We simply cast a short distance allow the spoon to hit bottom then pop it up a couple of feet then allow it to go back to the bottom and repeat. Don’t drag the spoon or you will be hung all the time. Once you feel something hit it hold tension to attract the second on the hair jig. If we locate them a hundred from just one spot is possible. Like I said it is all about wind.
My summer trips are filling so don’t hesitate. Booked about ten just last week alone. Currently I have…..
