A lot has transpired since my last report. The lake has jumped nearly four feet. Currently at 600.63 or about a foot over summer pool and hasn’t crested yet. Supposed to crest at 602.
Water temps have been up to 67 now with several cold nights it’s back to 61.
Water color on the north end by Bo-Woods over to the west about a half mile is very dirty. Then up at Wilborn up to the RR bridge. Above the bridge just almost not fishable same with Bo-Woods area. South end is fine and the crappie are going back into coves and getting on any wood they can find in the 4-10ft. range. Near the bank.
Here is how I am catching them. Pretty simple I use a slip bobber and a medium to large minnow on mostly stumps out on flats and some cubes. Wind has been the issue for the most part since I am out in the middle of the lake. You hit the right spot and you can get a couple limits. We move often to get the boats limit. We have been fortunate enough to get our limit about every day through this flooding.
Walleye have started to show up but we need it to warm up so we can get a shad spawn. We have caught about twenty so far all but one have been short. These have come while crappie fishing. After next week I am putting in the bouncers and spinner rigs. Hopefully it will be warm by then.
My calendar on my website has all my open dates and they are filling up so don’t hesitate.
