We now have three and possibly a fourth guide ready to serve you so getting a quality fishing trip on Lake Shelbyville is as easy as can be.
Water temps are running between 65-70 and the male crappie have hit the bank all over the lake. Recent rains has the lake rising so the fish are pulling even shallower. Was about six-feet now catching them in about three-feet. Just look for clearer coves and the crappie are all over the shallows.
Jig under a cork or live bait under a cork. Just keep moving until you run into them.
I have been getting reports of the walleye/sauger being caught coming back down from the Kaskaskia after spawning so it won’t be long and they will be set up on points around wood on flats as well around scattered wood.
Blade baits like the Big Dudes will cover lots of water in the shallows as will a jig and twister tipped with an inch of night crawler. Then if you are real serious pull 1 1/2oz. Bottom bouncers and a single hook spinner rig right on drops of flats at about .9-1.4 mph. Chrome, chartreuse, white and pink are the best colors for either the blades or spinners.
