Lake Shelbyville
Fishing Report
The Corp is playing yo-yo again and the water is back falling. This has pulled the shallow crappie out of the willows and even the male guarding fish have left. The water temps are running 71 and for all accounts the spawn is over. The white crappie really never came in shallow and either spawned out in deep water or will absorb their eggs. This doesn’t mean that you can’t catch crappie. Nice fish are being caught by spider rigging or trolling crankbaits out off drops. These are the white crappie and are usually the bigger fish anyway.
We are trolling cranks for the crappie number two or three Bandits at about 2.1 to 2.6 mile per hour using line counter reels to get the baits back to the exact depth each time.
I am also doing a lot of pulling spinners and bottom bouncers for walleye on points and off gravel areas. We are using a white or white and pink number three blade and a single hook rig with a minnow on it. I have seen some very nice sauger the last two days.
The white bass are out in deep water suspended and trolling bandits is the best way to get them for now.
Fishing is very good right now if you like to fish deep or troll so get out there.
